An appreciation ceremony is being held for Kathy Nesmith this Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Spring Street. Nesmith was the local Red Cross director for 12 years. In September, she was notified the local Caney Fork Chapter of the American Red Cross was being disbanded, the nine counties within it would be incorporated into other chapters, and her services would no longer be needed.“The news did come as a shock,” said Nesmith.
