All the excitement of high school football season has arrived in Warren County.
The Pioneers are pumped up and ready for kickoff Friday night at Nunley Stadium. DeKalb County is the opponent.
While action on the field starts at 7 p.m., tailgating will begin in the parking lot before that. Foodland Plus and Neil Helton State Farm are co-sponsoring a tailgate party and giving away hamburgers and hotdogs.
“A big win from the football team is just what this community needs,” said Foodland Plus owner Dennis Lann. “We need some positive news and I’m hearing good things about this team.”
Lann says their tailgate party will be near the main gate and begin at 5:30 p.m. He says they will be cooking 200 hamburgers and 200 hotdogs to be given away, along with chips and drinks.
The WCHS band has been fine tuning its routine and will be performing a show called Music of the Night.
“There is one song where the whole band breaks it down and dances,” said band director Duane Farnham. “This routine has really be a lot of fun.”
Songs will include “Some Nights” from the band Fun, “Tonight” from West Side Story, and “In the Still of the Night” from Boyz II Men.
Other Pioneer home games include matchups against Cookeville, White County for homecoming, Smith County and Rhea County.
