Assistant state archivist Dr. Wayne C. Moore paid a visit to the Warren County Archives at the County Administration Building yesterday to observe the operation and congratulate local archivist Jean Hobbs on receiving her official archivist certification after three years of training.Hobbs was instrumental in moving the old county records stored in the basement of the courthouse in damp conditions to an air-conditioned room in the County Administration Building. Hobbs received her training at the Tennessee State Library and Archives.Moore and state archives employee Genny Carter were impressed with the local archives, which the state has helped to fund with various grants for materials and shelving.“It’s good to see Jean has gotten it set up and the county is beginning to bring these old historic records out of storage and is taking better care of them in a proper archive,” Moore said. “We’ve been able to support her work and the work of the Warren County archives with some grants, and we’re glad to do that.
