A deranged man who stabbed another man as the victim’s girlfriend watched in horror has been sentenced to nine years in prison for attempted murder. The defendant, Hoyt Mitchell Hobbs, 58, has entered a guilty plea before Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley to the charge of attempted second-degree murder and was sentenced to serve nine years in the state penitentiary. His sentence comes after he attacked Brian Dedmon, 24, late last year. He left the victim with multiple stab wounds to the chest, hand, back and stomach.“He reminded me of the movie ‘Jaws’ when the shark gets blood,” testified the victim’s girlfriend, Tosha Ramos, who saw Hobbs cut her boyfriend several times with a knife. “He had a blank, creepy face.”It was learned during the preliminary hearing Hobbs had been acting strangely all week and had closed himself inside a room, not emerging for days.
