A man who put reportedly put a shotgun to his wife’s head was given a month in jail.The defendant, Jason Edward Yates, 31, entered best-interest pleas to charges of domestic assault, reckless endangerment with a weapon, and simple possession of marijuana. Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley ordered him to serve 30 days of a two-year sentence. He must also attend the batterer intervention program and undergo a drug and alcohol assessment.His jail time comes after he attacked his wife at their Rock Island home, hitting her in the head and face with his fists.“He grabbed her and started to strangle her and stated he would kill her,” said sheriff’s investigator Kevin Murphy.
