McMinnville officials have agreed to allow Great American Gun & Knife Shows to hold a show at McMinnville Civic Center on March 15-16, pending legal approval.The measure was brought before Parks and Recreation Committee members Aldermen Rick Barnes, Ben Newman and Billy Wood on Tuesday night.“I’m good with it, ” said Wood. “Can we do this?”The most visible problem is the Civic Center’s proximity to West Elementary and a state law that prohibits firearms within parks. City attorney Tim Pirtle says he has contacted MTAS to answer both of those concerns.“I believe we would have to consider the Civic Center as part of a park complex,” Pirtle said.
