Wings Ministry is an international organization devoted to supporting the families of the incarcerated. Founded by Ann Edenfield Sweet, the goal of Wings is to connect spouses, caregivers, and children of inmates with the nurturing and supporting relationships of Christian people in local churches. The McMinnville/ Warren County Wings director is MaryAnn Gay, wife of First Presbyterian Church pastor Andy Gay.As part of the local effort, Wings Ministry recently held a special Wings Party event at the Tennessee Prison for Women in Nashville. Wings board member and treasurer Sherry Johnson and Wings volunteers Keisha McBride and Faye Arnold attended the event and came back with some observations on the value of providing this type of program for families of the incarcerated.“I think it’s important for people to know about the prison party because I think a lot of people maybe look down on people in that situation,” Johnson said, noting her experience at the party was a positive one.
