Gilley Pool sets extended hours through July 4

Gilley Pool is extending its hours this month for those who need extra time in the evenings to enjoy the water. Until July 4, the pool will be open until 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
“A lot of people have asked us to extend our hours,” said Kendra Foust, program coordinator for McMinnville Civic Center. “We have but there doesn’t seem to be anyone here during those hours. I don’t think they are aware we are staying open later. We need to get the word out.”
Until the first week of July, the pool’s hours will be Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1-6 p.m.
Foust says the extended hours are a benefit to everyone who visits the pool and should be an incentive to parents to enjoy the pool with their children after work.
“What you see a lot of times is one parent with their children at the pool. That’s because the other parent is working and doesn’t get off work until later in the day. Our extended hours will allow time for both parents to enjoy the pool with their children.”
Even without the increased hours of operation, Foust says attendance has been good.
“So far this year it has been pretty good. We’ve had large crowds and have seen a lot of happy faces,” she said.
Daily admission to the pool is $4, Gilley tokens are $4, a summer pass per person is $85, and a family summer pass is $225.
