A man has been bound to the grand jury on felony assault charges after he choked out his girlfriend after accusing her of cheating on him.The suspect, James E. Gilles, 26, waived his right to a preliminary hearing before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke and was bound to the grand jury on the charge of aggravated assault. The crime carries three to six years if there is a conviction. In the meantime, while waiting for his case to go before the grand jury, Gilles will be serving time in jail as his probation for a prior crime was violated and he was ordered to serve the remainder of the time he owes the state behind bars.The victim in the felony assault case said Gilles assaulted her after she returned home from eating.
