Generations allowed to avoid paving parking lot

A special exception for a pea gravel parking lot was given to Generations on Spring Street. It resolved an off-street parking problem without adding to another long-standing problem in that area.“Generations needed additional parking, but current city code requires paving to be done in areas used for vehicle parking,” said McMinnville Planning and Zoning manager Josh Baker.Existing paved parking lots by businesses on Locust Street and at Warren Academy on Spring Street have caused major water runoff into the low-lying area on Spring Street. Paving is non-porous and does not allow water to be absorbed.“There is nowhere for the water to go other than the street,” said Baker.
