What’s loud, has plenty of black leather, and helps buy toys for children?
It’s the Warren County Toy Ride. This year’s event, the 13th annual, made its way through McMinnville yesterday featuring about 70 motorcycles and 15 vehicles.
Toy ride chairman Rob Wolford invites everyone in the community to come out Monday night and help volunteers spend the money raised by the event.
“Anyone who wants to come out and help us fill shopping carts is welcome to come,” said Wolford. “We’ll spend everything we have. We’ll be at Walmart at 6 p.m. and then we’ll go to Big Lots at 7 p.m. We’ll turn loose and spend till the money is gone.”
While Wolford didn’t have an exact figure at press time yesterday, he said it was a strong year for donations. Money is raised through T-shirt sales and community donations and has eclipsed $20,000 twice.
Greg Jones kicks off the year with an annual $1,000 donation and he made another $500 donation yesterday. McMinnville Cruisers and the Bridgestone Union also made $500 donations yesterday, Wolford said.
“I really want to thank the McMinnville Cruisers who donate $500 each year,” said Wolford.
After toys are purchased Monday, they will be taken to the Rescue Squad for its annual drive.
