Fugitive caught at local motel

A Summitville resident charged with shooting a man in the face was arrested at a motel in McMinnville after officers introduced a chemical irritant into his room.Samuel Pace Jr., 20, was arrested Monday night at Scottish Inn on Sparta Street after a standoff with law enforcement. He is being held at Coffee County Jail and is charged with attempted first-degree murder.The incident that led to Pace’s arrest happened Sunday night in Tullahoma. Police were dispatched to 509 Campbell Ave. shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday in reference to a gunshot wound.Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, Elton “Coty” Thomas, 34, had suffered a single gunshot wound to the face.
