Seven inmates at Warren County Jail are graduating after taking a college-level computer repair class in a portable classroom next to the jail. The hope is to provide these inmates with a job skill that will help them become productive members of society upon their release.“All these guys have a 4.0 grade point average,” said Carl Lewis, class instructor who is a computer repair and network specialist. “They are ready to take the A+ Certification testing, which is a state credential for computer technician professionals.”Having the certification validates an understanding of the most common hardware and software technologies in business and certifies the skills necessary to support complex IT infrastructures. Most of the students had never worked on computers before taking the class, but now they are ready to work, says Lewis.
