Four school cafeterias recognized for health

Four Warren County school cafeterias have been honored for meeting the Health U.S. School Challenge. Only a small percentage of schools win this award, according to the USDA.This program was started in 2004 to recognize schools which go above standards of the school lunch program. These schools serve healthier meals, provide more nutrition education for children, and provide more physical activity than is required.In 2010, First Lady Michelle Obama started the Let’s Move campaign and incorporated the Health U.S. School Challenge.The schools which won the award and their cafeteria managers are West Elementary and Ann Frye, Bobby Ray and Amanda Goad, Hickory Creek Elementary and Ramona Cooper, and Eastside Elementary and Amanda Miller.There are 100,000 schools in the country which participate in the Health U.S. School Challenge program.
