A deputy was injured Friday morning when he was run off the road by a fugitive who led lawmen on a high-speed chase through two counties.Warren County sheriff’s deputy Billy Joe Crouch escaped serious injury when his SUV rolled after he was rammed by a car driven by Steffen Matthew Brady during a chase that spanned Warren and Grundy counties. He was treated for his injuries at River Park Hospital. The chase saw several officers pursue Brady’s 1999 Honda Accord into Grundy County from the Viola area. They almost had him stopped, however he was able to make a U-turn and weave his way through the pursuing units and head back into Viola.“I was waiting near Viola to deploy the spike strips, but before I could get them out, there they were,” said Highway Patrol Sgt. Billy Prater, noting the Honda with several officers in pur-suit went through downtown Viola.Prater fell in behind the parade and was a witness to what happened next.“They had the road blocked in front of the old Viola School,” Prater recalled.
