A father faces reckless endangerment charges for drunk driving with his children in his truck, the youngest child only 4 months old.The father, Jeffery A. Fults, 39, is charged with second-offense DUI and two counts of reckless endangerment. He will face preliminary hearing Nov. 13.His arrest came after police were called to Aaron’s in Northgate Center regarding a customer who was apparently under the influence with two young children with him.“The employees told me the male had come into the store to use the bathroom and had left his two small children alone in the store,” recalled McMinnville police officer Stephen Daniels in his warrant against Fults. The witnesses said the father had then taken the children to his truck and left. It was about that time Daniels said a second call came in, this one from Pets and More where the drunk father had walked in.“I made contact with him in the back of the store and he had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his person,” said Daniels, noting the suspect failed a field sobriety test conducted outside the store.Along with Fults allegedly being intoxicated, Daniels said the father had left his 4-month-old daughter in his truck while inside the store with his 5-year-old daughter.Aaron’s provided security footage showing Fults driving up to their store, thereby providing visual evidence he was driving while intoxicated.
