A Rock Island native died Sunday at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville from injuries he sustained in a heavy equipment accident.
Lynn McGiboney, 64, succumbed to injuries he suffered while doing landscaping work.
According to family members, McGiboney was a professional landscaper who was driving a bobcat type piece of machinery while doing work at a home in Brentwood. He was working to dig an irrigation line near a steep embankment.
It was during work the skid steer loader unexpectedly went backward, plunged down the ravine, and hit a tree. There is speculation there may have been some sort of equipment malfunction as Mr. McGiboney was experienced at operating that type of machinery.
While a resident of Spring Hill, Mr. McGiboney maintained a home in the Rock Island area. Obituary information is available on 2-A.
