The state is putting the brakes on its Driver Testing Center in McMinnville.Despite objections from state Rep. Kevin Dunlap, who is mounting a campaign to keep our Driver Testing Center on Vervilla Road, the facility is scheduled to close in early 2016.According to Jennifer Donnals, spokeswoman for the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, the center is scheduled to close between January and March 2016. She said an exact date has not been determined.Local residents who need services from the Driver Testing Center, currently located across from Warren County High School, can visit a center in Tullahoma, Murfreesboro or other area, Donnals said.“This is an effort to save taxpayer dollars,” said Donnals. “We looked at centers throughout the state and at ones where we can easily terminate the lease.
