DesJarlais won't attend local debate

First-term Congressman Scott DesJarlais has declined an invitation to participate in a Southern Standard/ WCPI political forum Oct. 11 at Warren County High School.In an email sent to the Standard on Wednesday, DesJarlais campaign manager Brandon Lewis said he has other commitments in Washington.“I wanted to quickly write and let you know that Congressman DesJarlais will be presiding over Congress and in a pro-forma session in D.C. at the time of the debate,” Lewis wrote in the email. “We will not be able to attend. Thank you for reaching out to us.”A pro-forma session is defined as one in which no formal business is expected to take place.
