Local residents didn't tire during this New Year's celebration.A steady crowd gathered at Depot Bottom on Thursday night to hear bluegrass music, huddle around fire pits, and watch a giant Bridgestone tire drop to signify the dawn of a new year.The countdown started at 10 as the tire was slowly lowered by crane. It was illuminated with "2015" on its way down and changed to "2016" when it hit the stage.A brief fireworks display exploded in the background as the traditional song of "Auld Lang Syne" was played.
