The deadline has been extended for the first 5K color run in Warren County being held at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 3.
The deadline to register is Monday, April 21, at 4 p.m. As of Friday, 150 runners had registered.
“We want to extend the deadline in case more people want to enter. But, we have to set a deadline due to the price of paint,” said Debbie Hodge, race coordinator. “We must order the paint and T-shirts before the run. No registrations will be taken the day of the race.”
Hodge serves as activities director for Generations’ Campbell Lodge and Wood House, homes to 24 men in Warren County. The color run is a fundraiser for the resident activities, such as visits to the movies or the zoo.
“Many of our residents do not have families or do not have extra money for activities. We have seen color runs in other cities and everyone seems to have so much fun. We thought this would be a great way to raise money for our activities. And, hopefully, it is something we can do every year,” said Hodge.
Runners will receive white T-shirts which will be covered in environmentally safe color at each mile marker. Volunteers will throw color on runners as they reach the mile markers.
Registration cost $25 and includes a T-shirt, a bottle of water and two paint packets to throw. Registration is at USA Gym. For more information, call 931-273-1157 or 931-939-5046.
Runners/ walkers are asked to arrive at the race no later than 7 a.m. to check in. The run will start in the back parking lot of the Civic Center at 7:30 a.m.
An after-party will be held in the back parking lot of the Civic Center. Juicy’s, Dr Pepper and The Pink Gorilla will be selling drinks. A DJ with The Sound Machine will also be on hand.
