Crank it up! It's time for Bonnaroo

It’s Bonnaroo week, which means thousands of vehicles packed with tents and coolers will be driving through Warren County en route to Manchester.

It’s been three years since the last Bonnaroo Music Festival in June 2019 and this year’s lineup looks to make up for lost time.

Stevie Nicks headlines the festival and will close it down with a Sunday night set from 9:30 to 11 p.m. Other big-name acts include Tool, The Chicks, J. Cole, Robert Plant & Allison Krauss, Machine Gun Kelly, and Illenium.

For Stevie Nicks, it will be her second visit to Bonnaroo. She made a cameo appearance and sang two songs with Tom Petty during his first performance at Bonnaroo.

Tickets for the festival are still available at Bonnaroo.com with some activities beginning as early as Tuesday. Many bands will perform in outlying areas Wednesday night before the guitar solos make their way to the main stages on Thursday.

In addition to great music, Bonnaroo has a rich tradition of bringing sweltering heat. Two new attractions aim to combat that.

Air conditioned darkroom tents are on hand for those who need to escape the heat. Tents are available in large and small depending on the size of your group.

Also new is an on-site tram system that will transport visitors from the remote campground areas to all the action at Centeroo.

“What was once a long walk is now just a breeze,” says a Bonnaroo video promoting the new trams. The tram system, which is called Jamtrak, is said to offer comfort, style and speed.

So much of Bonnaroo revolves around music and return visitors will notice two major changes. The second biggest stage, Which Stage, has received a complete makeover and will have a hip new look.

The Other Stage, which has become the home for electronic music, will now feature all-night performances and D.J. sets through sunrise each day, along with spectacular new lighting and lasers.

Bonnaroo is full of hotspots, including The Oasis for a party on the beach with palm trees and volleyball, the Liquid Death clubhouse for cool refreshments, and the Verizon Lounge to recharge your phone.

There will be a day lounge open Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the House of Yes with bands playing all night Wednesday at many of the plazas located in the campgrounds.

Bonnaroo cranks up the amps even more on Thursday.
