A stellar evaluation by the Board of Education has led to an extension for Director of Schools Bobby Cox, who is now under contract through 2019.“Overall it was a very good report,” said School Board member Scott Holmes of the annual assessment by the board.Cox received a 4.36 rating out of a possible 5. The result is Cox will have an additional year added to his contract as director of schools. With the additional year, he is now extended for four years, meaning his contract runs through 2019.“I appreciate your confidence,” Cox said upon learning of the assessment and extension. The extension also comes with a 4 percent pay raise and with an admonition to improve in certain areas.“There were a couple of things I should improve on,” Cox learned from the assessment, one of which is getting out to the schools more.“I’ve been with the system for 24 years and sometimes it’s easy to get tied down at the office,” Cox admitted, saying he plans to get out into the field more this coming year.He also was challenged to improve his communications with staff and teachers, something Cox said he will do.“I’m going to continue to work hard every day,” Cox pledged in accepting the contract extension.
