Couple in Mercedes charged with theft

A Murfreesboro couple faces burglary and theft charges after they were caught stealing gas for their Mercedes from a Morrison-area business.The suspects, Adam Cope, 28, and Beth Damon, 22, are charged with theft and burglary for the incident which happened last week at Morrison Tank and Vault.According to arrest warrants against the pair, they were seen entering a building at the facility by the night watchman who witnessed them stealing from the business.“They were seen entering a building and then turned on the pumps to get some fuel,” said sheriff’s investigator Jody Cavanaugh in his warrant against the pair. “The night watchman observed the subjects steal the diesel fuel and also open the trunk to the Mercedes to put a bucket in the trunk.”While seen taking the fuel, lawmen found much more stolen merchandise once they searched the entire vehicle.“A search of the Mercedes revealed a jump box, Dewalt VSR drill, Makita disc grinder, Dewalt angle grinder, BEHA digital voltage meter, and a Jackson NexGen weld helmet,” Cavanaugh said, describing the laundry list of items the couple was caught stealing.
