Couple given 60 days for break-in, theft

A Yager Road couple has been sentenced to two month behind bars for breaking into and cleaning out an apartment.The defendants, Charles C. Bates and Mary Bunch, entered best-interest pleas to charges of aggravated criminal trespass and theft. They were directed to serve 60 days of 11-month, 29-day sentences.Their jail time comes after police received a tip stolen property taken during a break-in at a nearby apartment was hidden in their Holly Pointe residence.Upon arrival, patrolman Ben Cantrell said he found numerous stolen items including wooden chairs, two dressers, blankets, sheets, a large amount of tools, and all sorts of clothing. Officer Cantrell said he found the items throughout the apartment during his search.The officer said it was determined the stolen goods had been taken from an unoccupied apartment located at the same complex.
