County may seek charges for Animal Control incident

County Health and Welfare Committee chairperson Sally Brock has informed the district attorney that dogs were stolen from the pit behind the Animal Control building.Brock said she received a phone call from Leigh Ann McCollum, Tennessee state director for the Humane Society of the United States. McCollum said she spoke to a person who admitted taking the dogs from the pit in order to take them to a vet to determine cause of death. Animal Control director Kim Pettrey said a dog which had suffered from mange and had been euthanized four days previously had been “doctored up” to look bloody for a news broadcast airing on Channel 4 News claiming mistreatment at the facility.
