Questions are being asked about the resolution proposing plumbing and mechanical fees for new construction in the county. The proposal was on an addendum which commissioners rejected during full Warren County Commission meeting Monday night.Had the addendum been approved for the docket and subsequently approved, fees of $50 each for plumbing and mechanical inspections would have been charged. No fees would have been charged for existing structures, called trade permits. The addendum would also have changed residential and commercial building permit fees. The fees are currently a set price. The current total construction cost fees are as follows:• $0 - $5,000 = $100• $5,001 - $25,000 = $200• $25,001 - $100,000 = $350• $100,001 - $150,000 = $400• $150,001 - $200,000 = $450• $201,000 - $250,000 = $500• $250,001 - $300,000 = $550• $301,000 and up = $550 for the first $300,000 plus $50 for each additional $50,000 above $300,000County codes officer Nolan Ming proposed determining permit costs by the value of the construction by multiplying the finished space by $75 and the unfinished space by $37.50.Using the newly proposed scale, a 2,000-square-foot heated building multiplied by $75 would determine the value at $150,000 requiring a $400 permit.
