Color run May 3

If you’ve always wanted to run through a cloud of color including red, yellow, turquoise, green and purple, then get ready for the first color run in Warren County being held at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 3.
The 5K color run is being held as a fundraiser for Generations’ Campbell Lodge and Wood House, homes to 24 men in Warren County.
Debbie Hodge, activities director for the two homes, said, “Each Generations house must raise money for their own activities. Many of our residents do not have families or do not have extra money for activities such as going to the zoo or the movies or playing putt putt golf. We saw a color run on TV. Larger places than McMinnville have them and everyone seems to have so much fun. We thought this would be a great way to raise money for our activities.”
Runners will receive white T-shirts which will be covered in environmentally safe color at each mile marker. Volunteers will throw color on runners as they reach the mile markers.
Registration cost $25 and includes a T-shirt, a bottle of water and two paint packets to throw. Registration is at USA Gym or online at www.runsignup.com. A $2.50 charge applies for online registration. Registration deadline is Tuesday, April 15. For more information, call 931-273-1157.
Breakfast will be sold prior to the run.
Runners are asked to arrive at the race no later than 7 a.m. to check in. The run will start in the back parking lot of the Civic Center at 7:30 a.m.
An after-party will be held in the back parking lot of the Civic Center. Juicy’s, Dr Pepper and The Pink Gorilla will be selling drinks. A DJ with The Sound Machine will also be on hand to pump up the party atmosphere.
Hodge said, “Any fitness level can enter. It is called a run but anyone can walk. This is all about the fun.”
