The first day of school is just eight days away and Dibrell School has not been granted approval from the state fire marshal to house students.School system and Dibrell officials are still hoping to obtain a certificate of occupancy for the old building from the fire marshal prior to the opening of school Aug. 15.Director of maintenance Donnie Caldwell said there are still a couple hurdles for contractor Midstate Construction to clear before the existing building will be ready for occupancy. One of the items is the installation of doors to prevent students from moving between the old building and new construction.Caldwell accompanied the fire marshal on a preliminary tour of the school Thursday, but the final inspection won’t be complete until Wednesday.“We had it scheduled to do Thursday, but we knew it wouldn’t be ready,” Caldwell said. “But he did a quick walk through and said things were looking good right now.
