Warren County officials are refusing to budge on neutrality when it comes to litigation between West Warren-Viola Utility District and its eminent domain attempt with the Jarrell family of Coffee County. Coffee County’s full County Commission accepted a resolution “in support of the Koss (Jarrell) family and in support of legislation to prevent a utility district from exercising the power of eminent domain in an area or in regard to land which it does not serve.” The measure passed 18-2.The measure was added to Coffee County’s regular session agenda for June 9 after being considered by the county’s Legislative Committee and being accepted unanimously.During Monday night’s meeting of the Warren County Commission, Commissioner Michael Shane Wilcher took another shot at adding his resolution, an attempt to stop the utility’s ongoing efforts to take the Jarrell family property by eminent domain, to the agenda for consideration.
