While McMinnville officials still wait for approval from the State Fire Marshall’s office on Park Theatre renovation plans, there is another push to give management of the facility to Park Theatre Group.During last week’s McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, Mayor Jimmy Haley announced under new business that “MTAS is looking at a management agreement with a group interested in managing Park Theatre.”“A group” being Park Theatre Group and MTAS being the Municipal Technical Advisory Service. Haley says signing entertainment acts for 2014 is done in 2013 so he went ahead and sent the agreement to MTAS for its approval.“If we don’t get moving on this, Park Theatre will be sitting empty when complete,” he said. Some general aspects of the proposed contract are as follows.Contract: The management agreement is for three years, which automatically renews for three more years unless otherwise noted.Termination: In the first three years, the agreement can be terminated with a 30-day written notice due to destruction or damage to property by Park Theatre Group, if sufficient funds are not available for the costs of operation and maintenance to operate the Park Theatre, or breach of contract.
