A child was airlifted Thursday afternoon after he was hit by his mother in the family driveway. The child, believed to be 2 years old, was airlifted by Lifeflight from Warren County Memorial Airport around 1 p.m. His condition was unavailable at press time, but law enforcement officials investigating the accident believe the airlift was a precautionary measure since it is unclear if the child was run over by the tires or simply knocked down by the vehicle.According to preliminary reports, the incident took place in the driveway of a home on Bybee Branch Road in the northern part of the city.“The child was playing with another child in the bed of the truck,” said McMinnville Police Lt. Mark Mara of what police were able to glean from the on-scene investigation. “The mother was cleaning the vehicle while they were playing.”At some point the mother, Kristina Rankin, 38, pulled the vehicle up closer to an electrical outlet so she could use a plug in to finish cleaning the truck. It was as she was moving the vehicle that the child, unbeknownst to his mother, was climbing out of the bed.
