Caris works to help veterans

Many United States veterans have fascinating stories to tell. Unfortunately, many have no one to share their military stories with.Caris Healthcare is utilizing a Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program pairing veteran volunteers with veterans who are Hospice patients.Caris Healthcare volunteer coordinator Gail Evans said many veterans do not want to talk about their years in combat but will open up to other veterans.“We match a Navy veteran volunteer to a Navy veteran Hospice patient who may be in the hospital or at home, or a Vietnam veteran with a Vietnam veteran,” said Evans. “We had two Air Force vets who talked about the smell of jet fuel and used jargon I didn’t understand.
