The Main Street Live summer concert series kicks off Friday night with a band that’s bringing the 1980s back.
Bueller, a premiere ’80s tribute band, takes the Main Street Live stage at 7 p.m. to relive that decade. The band, as well as the decade, was a big hit during last year’s Main Street Live summer concert series.
“We are really looking forward to Friday night,” said Bueller member Dave Tough, who plays bass and sings.
The five-member band also consists of Jack Taylor on guitar and vocals, Jon Lechner on keyboards and vocals, Dan Eidem on drums and vocals, and Amy Walsh on vocals. From synthesizer-led Flock of Seagulls and Van Halen, to the classic metal of Poison and Def Leppard, Bueller is all about the ’80s.
An extensive song list also includes hits from AC/DC, Aha, Beastie Boys, Billy Idol, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, The Cars, The Clash, Cyndi Lauper, Dire Straits, Don Henley, Duran Duran, Georgia Satellites, Guns ‘n Roses, John Mellencamp, Journey, Kenny Loggins, Loverboy, Michael Jackson, Modern English, Motley Crue, Peter Gabriel, Prince, Rick Springfield, among many others.
The band takes its name from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” The movie was released in 1986 and became a much-loved 1980s film. It featured Matthew Broderick, as Ferris, who decided he wanted to take the day off from school with his girlfriend, Sloane, and his best friend, Cameron, and developed an incredibly sophisticated plan to pull it off.
American Legion will be accepting non-perishable food for the Warren County Emergency Food Bank during this year’s Main Street Live events. Donations can be placed in marked boxes next to the stage.
Because Main Street Live is a family oriented event, alcoholic beverages are prohibited and smoking is not allowed in the crowd. All animals need to be leashed and owners must clean up after their pets.
Bueller will take the stage and begin entertaining at 7 p.m. on the West Lawn of Security Federal. There will be a variety of food and beverages available from vendors beginning at 6 p.m. Parking and admission are free. Bring a chair and enjoy the music.
Main Street Live summer concert series is a production of Main Street McMinnville. Events are free due to sponsorship by Dr Pepper Bottling Company, the Law Offices of Galligan and Newman, Security Federal Savings Bank, River Park Hospital, Middle Tennessee Natural Gas, Ben Lomand, McMinnville Electric System, city of McMinnville, Tennessee Arts Commission, Peg Broadcasting and the Southern Standard, your source for local news.
