Broken window leads to felony assault charges

A man who allegedly threw a beer bottle through a glass window cutting his fiancee and her 18-month-old son faces felony assault charges.The suspect, Michael D. Mayfield, 30, will face hearing before General Sessions Judge Larry Ross Aug. 16 on two counts of aggravated assault. The counts both carry three to six years in prison if convicted.His felony charges come after police were called to a Cherry Lane resident to answer a physical domestic call. When McMinnville Police Officer Kenneth Seagraves arrived he found a broken window and Mayfield holding a beer bottle.“I was met by Michael Mayfield holding a beer bottle and smelling strongly of alcohol,” Seagraves said, noting he took the suspect into custody after seeing his girlfriend.
