A local Boy Scout hopes to add a touch of new to the old entrance of Riverside Cemetery in Depot Bottom for his Eagle Scout project.“This project will benefit McMinnville and Warren County in many ways,” Robert Eschenbacher said of his proposed project. “I am about to start my Eagle Scout project, but I need your approval first.”Eschenbacher, a Boy Scout in Troop 631, wants to redo the front entrance to Riverside Cemetery. His project includes the following goals:• Remove the rust from the front gate and paint it black.• Fill in holes in the main two columns and paint them white.• Trim all the bushes on the right side on the entrance and place new mulch around them.• Remove the two small trees on the left side of the entrance. Place two new shrubs and new mulch.• Add two cap blocks to the top of the wall where there are two missing.• Mortar the holes in the wall on the left of the entrance.• Paint the sign that says the name of the cemetery and the two poles that hold it up.• Pick up trash and debris on the ground.• Straighten out a portion of the fence that is bent on the right side of the entrance.“The cemetery is a historical landmark and the many tours by YSI and Heritage Alliance make it a frequented area of the city, especially during the dogwood season,” said Eschenbacher.
