Blood Assurance, the local blood supplier for River Park Hospital, has reported a record number of volunteer blood donations for the area in 2012. The increase will be significant once the year is concluded given the fact that in 2011, 550 units of blood were collected for the year. To date this year, 670 units have been donated.At the annual board of director’s meeting, the area was recognized as the most improved area Blood Assurance serves.Jay Baumgardner, vice president of community relations for Blood Assurance, attributes the rise in donations to the efforts put forth from the McMinnville Advisory Board of Blood Assurance.“The advisory board has really come a long way since we began collecting blood in this area.
