Bandit caught by Smokey

A man who did his best Smokey and the Bandit routine, leading lawmen on a high speed chase through three counties in a black Trans Am, has been granted probation for his run from the law. The speeder, Brian L. Conner, 26, of Soddy Daisy, entered guilty pleas before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to charges of reckless endangerment, evading arrest and speeding by traveling 130 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per hour zone. He was placed on probation for two years and fined $100 plus court costs.
