Two brothers who allegedly robbed On the Way Market last month say they committed the crime because one of them needed money to hire a lawyer to defend him on an earlier felony charge.The suspects, Adrian D. Smith, 21, and Daniel Reyes, 19, face eight to 12 years in prison for the strong-arm robbery of the convenience store on South Chancery Street on the evening of Sept. 21. They will face hearing on robbery charges Nov. 10 before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke.The lone female clerk recognized the young robbers despite their wearing hoodies. They were regular customers in the store and had been there just two hours earlier.According to McMinnville policewoman Rachel Nichols, the pair charged into the store and Reyes hopped over the counter and took the clerk to the ground and held her there.
