The full Warren County Commission has voted to designate the Warren County Memorial Airport terminal in honor of Joe and Betty Howard.
The resolution, which unanimously passed the county Building and Grounds Committee, also unanimously passed the full court, 20-0. Commissioners Sally Brock, Ron Lee and Bessie Smithson were absent.
Commissioner Les Trotman said, “Everyone realizes Joe has been out there over 30 years helping us build up the airport.”
Howard has been chairman of the Airport Commission for 20 years. He has been associated with the Airport Commission for over 30 years and has been a proponent of the airport for over 40 years, according to airport director Richard Crawford.
“I believe Joe has at least 5,000 hours flying aircraft himself. He has been flying for close to 50 years. He is a huge supporter of Warren County Memorial Airport and our terminal building will be named after him,” said Crawford.
Joe and Betty Howard were married in 1952. Mrs. Howard passed away Jan. 3, 2013.
