Win some, lose some

Every time it seems like the Lady Pioneers are going to build some momentum, they have a setback. Monday was the latest as WCHS fell to Stone Memorial in five sets.

Warren County was coming off a second-place finish in the Southern Slam Silver Bracket at Coffee County Saturday, but several varsity Lady Pioneers found themselves watching portions of Monday's match.

Coach Erin Blalock started working in some of her JV players after dropping the first two sets, hoping to get a spark. It seemed to work as Warren County rallied to take the third and fourth set, but Stone Memorial jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the deciding set.

By the end, coach Blalock subbed out her whole lineup as the team fell 15-2 to drop a tough match at home.

The Lady Pioneers went for their third straight district win at Charlie Dalton Gym Tuesday against Franklin County. Results were unavailable at press time. Check Friday's paper for more details.
