Men’s Church League softball has seen a large influx of home-run hitting this season and the long ball took the spotlight when Westwood and the Christian Warriors squared off Thursday night.The Warriors, sporting an undefeated 7-0 record, were defeated by Westwood 22-21 in a game which featured nine home runs. It was part of a night where 15 home runs were hit in four men’s games.Though the excitement of softball was spread across four games, a crowd drew once Westwood and the Warriors starting sending balls over the road and into the rock pile resting behind Field 1.Kyle Thompson led the attack for Westwood, hitting three home runs and driving in nine runs. Steve Sliger added a home run for Westwood as well, as his two-run shot in the second inning gave Westwood an early 6-3 lead.The Warriors trailed 18-11 entering the sixth inning, but Tim Conley’s three-run shot sparked a nine-run outburst.
