WCMS volleyball players all good versus Algood
Warren County Middle Schools Marli McBride, left, sets up the ball as Maddison Hollis looks to make a play.

The Warren County Middle School volleyball team bounced into action against Algood’s Lady Redskins for a two-game win, 25-12, 25-21, to capture the match.
Game one found the Lady Pioneers up by 13-2 with strong serves by Maddison Hollis and Marli McBride. The Lady Redskins couldn’t recover.
“Algood couldn’t match up with our intensity on the court. Everything was clicking for us. We had great net play, great serves, and great communication with everyone on the court,” said WCMS volleyball coach Kelly Clayborne.
Algood found some energy in the second game, as the Lady Pioneers found themselves fighting back from a deficit of 20-16. Serving from Lady Pioneer JuJu Pyburn brought WCMS back within 1 point, 22-21. Warren County lost the serve but got it back and Sadie Simmons took the Lady Pioneers home to serve out the game for a big win.
“Not only was Simmons hot at the service line, she was also serving up breakfast with two awesome pancakes for the match,” Clayborne added.
Statistically, the game breaks down with Simmons, 3 kills, 2 assists; McBride, 3 kills, 1 block; Hollis 2 kills, 1 block; Elia Atterson, 2 kills and Samantha Jennings, 11 kills, 8 assists.
“This was the best the girls have played all year. We dominated every aspect of the game. Algood didn’t have an answer for the way we were playing. We were able to keep our intensity up the entire match and the chemistry on the court was amazing. When the girls are playing like they played tonight they are unstoppable and very fun to watch,” Clayborne said.
The WCMS volleyball team plays again Tuesday when they host Harris. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
