WCMS takes down Hawks
Warren County Middle School 5-6 grade Pioneer player Sawyer Seymour dribbles in early season play. The WCMS boys are undefeated thus far this season.

Hosting Hickory Creek (0-2), the undefeated Warren County Middle School 5-6 grade boys basketball team (3-0) stayed that way with a big 39-21 victory Tuesday night.
The Pioneers spread out the field with every single player on the roster earning points for their team for an unstoppable offense. Jumping off to a 23-12 lead at halftime became an unsurmountable obstacle for the Hawks, who fell off in second-half scoring.
Including Tuesday night’s games, only two teams remain undefeated, one being the Middle School and the other the Centertown Warriors.
Scoring for Hickory Creek were Alex Van Vureen with 6 points, Easton Denning and Brody Womack both had 4, Korey Smith had 3 points, while Brett Cantrell and Dylan Stepp both scored 2 points.
Hitting the hoop for the Pioneers was a cornucopia of who’s who as Jax King scored 7 points, Kaden Rutledge was good for 6, Owen Clark, Braylon Grayson and Levi Melton all had 4 points, Sawyer Seymour and Evan Watts both scored 3, and Wesley Sherrell, Grady Burnette, J.J. Jacobs and Logan Earls all had 2 points apiece.
The WCMS Pioneers don’t see action again until Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Irving College.
Hickory Creek hosted Morrison last night. Results were not available at press time.
