Hosting Hickory Creek (0-2), the undefeated Warren County Middle School 5-6 grade boys basketball team (3-0) stayed that way with a big 39-21 victory Tuesday night.The Pioneers spread out the field with every single player on the roster earning points for their team for an unstoppable offense. Jumping off to a 23-12 lead at halftime became an unsurmountable obstacle for the Hawks, who fell off in second-half scoring.Including Tuesday night’s games, only two teams remain undefeated, one being the Middle School and the other the Centertown Warriors.Scoring for Hickory Creek were Alex Van Vureen with 6 points, Easton Denning and Brody Womack both had 4, Korey Smith had 3 points, while Brett Cantrell and Dylan Stepp both scored 2 points.Hitting the hoop for the Pioneers was a cornucopia of who’s who as Jax King scored 7 points, Kaden Rutledge was good for 6, Owen Clark, Braylon Grayson and Levi Melton all had 4 points, Sawyer Seymour and Evan Watts both scored 3, and Wesley Sherrell, Grady Burnette, J.J. Jacobs and Logan Earls all had 2 points apiece.The WCMS Pioneers don’t see action again until Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Irving College.Hickory Creek hosted Morrison last night. Results were not available at press time.
