Wednesday’s season opener for the Warren County Middle School softball team proved to be worth the wait. After being postponed Tuesday, the Lady Pioneers took the field against DeKalb County and won a thrilling 1-0 contest.Warren County was eager to get the season started Tuesday after weeks of practices and playdays, but wet field conditions forced coach Gooby Martin to push his team’s debut back one day. When DeKalb County finally came to town, pitcher Hope Mullican proved to be on her game.Mullican took a no-hitter into the final inning before allowing a single in the top of the fifth.
