The Warren County Middle School softball team is off to a strong start after scoring victories in its first three games of the 2025 season.

The Lady Pioneers opened this spring’s campaign by holding on for a 4-3 victory on the road at Cannon County, and edged White County 2-1 in a pitchers’ duel Monday at home before decimating Tullahoma on the road Thursday 20-6.

On Feb. 27, the Lady Pioneers took an early 4-0 lead, then held on as Cannon County scored three in the bottom of the fifth inning. But the Lionettes’ rally was stopped short, as WCMS held on for the win.

Maddie Bryant went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Pioneer offense, driving in a run and scoring two more while stealing a base. Zara Laxson, June Cossit, Reese Reinitz, Lyvia Wilson, Adasah Haswell and Christy Farmer added a hit apiece.

Ella Wells worked four perfect innings on the pitching rubber, striking out a pair of Lionette batters, while Charley Wilson came on to work the fifth, giving up two hits and striking out one batter.

Monday at home against White County, the Lady Pioneers rallied from an early 1-0 deficit, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead and provide what would prove to be the final margin of victory.

Cossit and Reinitz had a hit each for the Lady Pioneers, while Wells drove in both runs and scattered two hits over five innings to pick up the win on the mound. She allowed just one run while fanning two Warriorette batters.

Thursday  night, the Lady Pioneers took an early 6-0 lead, only to see the Lady Wildcats cut that margin in half in the bottom part of the first inning. WCMS countered with authority, however, scoring a pair of runs in the second, eight more in the third and four in the top of the fourth before its hosts added three in the bottom of the inning in an attempt to rally from the insurmountable deficit.

Charley Wilson finished a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, scoring four runs and driving in another. Wells had three hits, scoring three runs and driving in three more, while Farmer went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Reinitz and Livia Wilson added a pair of hits apiece. Wilson pitched 3-1/3 innings of two-hit ball, fanning four batters and giving up just two hits.

The Lady Pioneers play host to DeKalb County Monday at 5 p.m.
