Carter Simpson forced overtime with late free throws and DeShawn Adams hit the winning basket in OT as the WCMS Pioneers earned a 39-37 victory on the road Tuesday night at Rockvale.
The surging Pioneers are expected to be the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the CTC Tournament, which is scheduled to start Monday at Franklin South.
Simpson led WCMS with a game-high 17, while Adams and Keyton Reno both scored 8.
It came down to the final seconds.
Simpson got fouled with 14.6 left in regulation and his free throws tied the game to force overtime at 35-35.
It was tied at 37 when Adams showed he can hit the big shot. He connected on a jumper around the free throw line with 8 seconds left to put the Pioneers up by 2 and account for the winning points.
Abe Scuey was the top scorer for Rockvale with 15.
