WCMS girls win big
Wanamaker
Marah Wanamaker, No. 21, scored a game-high 19 points for the Lady Pioneers Thursday.

Thursday night at home, the WCMS Lady Pioneers showed dominance in their game versus Franklin North by winning in a rather convincing fashion, 73-24.
WCMS had a total of four Lady Pioneers with double-digit scoring with Marah Wanamaker leading the way with 19 points.
WCMS had Franklin North completely covered in the first quarter and pressured them into multiple turnovers that would lead to transition baskets for the Lady Pioneers in the very early going.
Wanamaker would unleash an all-out assault scoring 11 of her 19 in just the opening quarter. Lady Pioneer Tyra Wright followed close behind in the first with seven of her 16 points.
In the second quarter, Franklin North found the offense that had gone missing in the previous quarter but shots did not come easy. If Franklin North did get the ball inside, WCMS made them pay the price and earn their points from the free-throw line.
Summer Hill for Franklin North hit 5-of-6 free throws in the second, while Cheyenne Luttrell made good on both of hers.
With the half fast approaching, Shonacye Rutledge would add to the WCMS total and run the score a little higher before the half. As the horn ended the first half, WCMS was clearly in charge, 34-11.
In the second half it was more WCMS offense and it was obvious Franklin North did not have what it would take on Thursday night to stop the Lady Pioneer attack. Megan Patch was right on target with two deep 3-point shots in the third, and she continued her accuracy by hitting two more 3-pointers in the fourth, giving her a total of four for the game.
Wright, who started the game warm and went cold in the second and third, came roaring back scoring eight points down the stretch, with one of those being a 3-pointer. So on Thursday night it was an offensive clinic put on by the WCMS Lady Pioneers and they would defeat Franklin North easily, 73-24.
