Sports action started back on schedule Monday night at Warren County Middle School gymnasium with a very limited crowd. Only parents and siblings were in the stands, and everyone wore their masks the entire game.
This was a stark contrast to what had been happening at basketball games in Warren County in 2020. In 2020, most of the crowd did not wear a mask inside the gym.

WCMS head coach Mendy Stotts brought her squad out early at halftime to do some shooting. Weeks without practice, coupled with Christmas break, and some rust and fatigue were expected.
Perhaps the Lady Pioneers ran out of gas in the second half, or Tullahoma East was simply the better team on Monday night. Warren County had a two-point lead at the end of three quarters, 28-26. The fourth quarter was when Tullahoma pulled away convincingly, outscoring the Lady Pioneers 10-3.
Warren County was down only two points, 30-28 with 1:25 to go. Warren County decided to foul several times to regain possession of the basketball. A few of the fouls simply stopped the clock and gave Tullahoma East possession. Eventually, Warren County’s fouls put Tullahoma East on the free throw line and the Lady Panthers made free throws and controlled the end of the game.
The top scorers for the Lady Pioneers were Bri Taylor with 10 points and Zoe Verge with 9 points.
