The Warren County Middle School Pioneers proved Thursday the old adage, “it’s not how you start, but how you finish,” definitely applies to basketball. Warren County outscored White County 16-5 in the fourth quarter – getting eight points from Isaiah Grayson in the span – to defeat its CTC rival 45-34 Thursday night.Warren County (1-1) was on the wrong end of a late comeback at Tullahoma East Monday, but coach Adam Wood wasn’t going to let his Pioneers wilt again at home against the Warriors.White County had erased an early double-digit lead for the Pioneers by outscoring Warren County in each of the second and third quarters, but the home team owned the paint late while storming back for a convincing victory.Grayson and Alex Jones were relentless around the rim in the final six minutes. Grayson used his size and speed to slice through the heart of the White County defense while Jones consistently cleaned the glass for putbacks.
